I just wanted to send a quick note thanking Matthews Roofing and particularly Eric for the work on our recent reroof. I was impressed with the knowledge, craftsmanship and professionalism of Eric and the crew. We have a non-typical roof and I was looking for a company that would stop and analyze problems when they came up instead of ripping it off and slapping something back on, a do it right, do it once kind of attitude. When we found problems Eric and the crew did that as well as taking the time to address my concerns, even wrote a separate email documenting what was found, why it happened, and how it had been corrected. Eric took the extra time and effort to make sure we would be happy with our new roof and we appreciate his effort. I am very pleased with the new roof and won’t hesitate to use and recommend Matthews Roofing in the future.
Matthews removed a wood rooftop deck structure, removed metal copings from top parapet wall and tore off all layers of roofing material over the flat and stairwell roofs. Matthews installed a GAF TPO over new fiberboards on the flat roof and architectural shingles over the stairwell roof. I am very pleased with every aspect of the project (quality of work, time schedule and price). I chose a TPO roof because I wanted it to last longer. While evaluating four roofing firms, my goal was to determine the best one from a quality standpoint followed by price.
Masonry work was nice, fast and clean. Tear off was on time. Roofers did a great job – professional, steady and fast. Many thanks to Eric for making sure things were done right and on time.

The day I was to meet with your salesperson, Mr. Joe Ponder, and his crew to replace my roof at 3041 N. Monticello, Chicago, I was not a happy person. You might compare it to having root canal work done. Everyone dreads working with a contractor and my previous dealings with other contractors were not pleasant experiences. My roof replacement was a big job on an original 94-year-old roof. It took eight days to complete. The job was difficult and dirty. However, my story has a happy ending. I was so thrilled I chose Matthews Roofing and I’m telling everyone who’ll listen about my wonderful experience.
The crew of Joe ponder, Chuck, Willie, Bobby, Freddie and Liam were outstanding. They worked beautifully as a team. Chuck was in charge of the team and kept a steady head in completing the job safely. He and Willie and Bobby had the most experience and it showed in their skilled work as a work together in removing or replacing my roof. Freddy was a hard worker and a real sweetheart as he helped answer my persistent questions on my many trips up and down the stairs of my 3 1/2 story apartment building. Freddy was the youngest of the group, but he was so knowledgeable for his age and so helpful. Joe Ponder was the bravest of the group as he works so confidently and comfortably on my 3 1/2 story pitched roof. His expertise was obvious, yet he found time to address all my concerns. These men worked hard and work well together as a team. They never argued with me and never gave me a hard time. All of my concerns were addressed to my utmost satisfaction. When the job was finished, I was sorry to see them leave. But now I have a beautiful new roof! The day after they finished, it rained and it poured and I went to check for leaks in my newly shingled roof. All is dry. So happy with the outstanding work!

The Project Looks Great. I have a view of the West Bank in the West side of the center bank of garage roofs from my balcony. The improvement is exceptional. Just spoke with the resident next door to my unit two is employed by United Airlines and is often home during the day. He was impressed with your workmen in the progression of the repair. Another resident asked about the pitch of the gutter and I passed on your explanation. Once again you and your workers have proved yourselves!

My first encounter with Tim Sweeton and Matthews Roofing was several years ago when we had a leak in our roof. Three other firms had estimated a major repair (quite expensive as well). Tim did a small repair on-site which solve the problem immediately. When it was time to replace our roof, because of Tim’s credibility we chose to go with Matthews.
